The Tanning of America [Documentary]

Music marketing industry heavy-weight Steve Stoute, is certain that you can draw a line connecting the birth of hip-hop, at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, directly to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, where President Obama is serving his second term in office. It's a story Stoute told in his 2011 book titled 'The Tanning of America' that has now been turned into a documentary on VH1, with the same name - but now features commentary from hip-hop legends such as Russell Simmons, Reverend Run, Rick Rubin, Nas and Diddy.

Honeycomb Art




In North America, Europe and many other parts of the world, bee populations have plummeted 30-50% due to colony collapse disorder, a fact not lost on artist Aganetha Dyck who for years has been working with the industrious insects to create delicate sculptures using porcelain figurines, shoes, sports equipment, and other objects left in specially designed apiaries. As the weeks and months pass the ordinary objects are slowly transformed with the bees’ wax honeycomb.
